Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
The first woman member of the United States Supreme Court was Sandra Day O'Connor. She became an associate justice of the Supreme Court in 1981. Sandra O'Connor was a lawyer and a judge before she became an associate justice. She was selected for this important job by President Ronald Reagan and worked extremely hard to know the laws and how they have been used before.
